Description
The Great Orion Nebula.
I wanted to start the new year (2014) off with astronomical images. This was taken Dec 27th 2013. An image of 46 exposures. Both 800asa, 400asa and one 100asa, Most exposures around one minute. CR2 or raw image files used this time. Canon t2i, through a 80mm f/7 Russian telescope. Refactor. 560 local length. Urban setting. 2 blocks from J-Town High School, Louisville, Kentucky. Very light polluted area. DeepSkyStacker and Lightroom 4.4 software used.
I stacked more image this time which may or may not have helped detail. But I did add a little false color this time to show the lighter outer thinner nebulosity which is a real trick to image from an urban area.
What I was wanting to accomplish with this astronomy photography outing was to image the nebulosity to the left of the Great Orion Nebula. The Running Man Nebulosity. The small blue nebula but also show Orion in the same image.
