Orion Nebula, M42. The most photographed of the night sky objects. Right now for me more about the photography then the astronomy.
A 300mm lens and not a telescope. Yes I did use a astronomy mount that moves the camera and lens with the night sky so the stars will stand still in the image. 128 images ranging from 15, 10, and 8 second exposures. Asa from 1600 to 3200. Stacked DSS, then darkroom work in Lightroom.
What I was trying after imaging this part of the sky many time with a close up telescope was to image it with a wide field lens to show its surrounding star field. And to show how large the out lying nebulae is. This is a larger object then most think it is. Very light thin clouds expanding way out. Much nebulosity to the south in this image.
