A full moon rising over a small lake that is located in the most eastern park of the City of Louisville, Jefferson County Park System.
Long Run Park, Louisville, Kentucky.
This image is not altered. Close to as it came out of the camera. I have imaged the moon this color many times. It takes a very, very clean sky. Clean air. In the dessert out west you see this color of the moon as it rises all the time. Fire red.
This was an outing to image a rising full moon with Miss Moonchild213 a year or so back. Miss Moonchild
I got to see a similar effect during a simultaneous sunrise/moonset: the moon turned fire red. I only wish I'd had a camera to capture it! You did very in doing so.
Yes it was that red. This image is not altered. close to as it came out of the camera. I have image the moon this color many times. It takes a very, very clean sky. Clean air. In the dessert out west you see this color of the moon as it rises all the time. Fire red.
It has to be a desert with a low horizon. Almost a flat horizon. There are many Native American folklore (Mythos) of the blood rising moon.
There is several Native American stories of looking at a setting red sun and then turning east and seeing the blood red rising moon. It is a very spiritual experience when see. This is very common in North Texas and Oklahoma
The Physics is the same that makes a red sunset. Makes a red moon rise. Happens more with the summer moons then winter. Winter moons are more golden.
To Native Americans this is a very special time.
